A Norwegian Week | 2024

A Norwegian Week from the 17th to the 24th of March, 2024

Go Nordic Skiing on the High Plateau of Lillehammer

The network of ski trails—perfectly groomed for both classic and skating—situated above Lillehammer extend more than 300 km. And all of this in a countryside that will take your breath away. These immense plateau have a network of trails that link the small villages of Sjusjøen to Nordsetter while passing through Pellestova. All in all, the magnificence that you will experience here will give you a sense of liberty that you have rarely experienced before. The two villages just mentioned lay at a distance of 22 km from Lillehammer. The transport system allows you to visit Lillehammer when you wish.

We will start our week in a family hotel called Rustad in Sjusjøen, situated in the mountains outside Lillehammer (Lillehammerfjellet in Norwegian). The start of the trails is right in front of our hotel. From there, you have an almost infinite choice, either classic or skating. You will be able to have resting points, short or long, along the network of trails. All of the trails are groomed from the beginning of November to the end of April. The famous Birkebeiner race goes right in front of our hotel and takes place during the third weekend in March. Every day we will leave the hotel as we go on a trip of discovery of the region.  We will pass by Nordsetter and then Pellestova going in the direction of the Rondane National Park. Some of the days that we ski will take us to the world-famous Olympic stadium in Lillehammer where the Olympic Games occurred in 1994. On those days, we will return to the hotel by bus, but not before we will have visited the Storgatta, a pedestrian-only shopping street in Lillehammer. We might even visit the Olympic museum or perhaps the Swix factory.
