König Ludwig Lauf | 2018
The König Ludwig Lauf 2018 in Bavaria
The König Ludwig Lauf is a 50-kilometer classic cross country race (and skating on Saturday) that takes you along the grounds of the Linderhoff Castle, Louis II of Bavaria’s preferred home, and today known the world over. Every year during the first weekend in February, at least 5,000 classic cross-country ski racers come to this famous Oberammergau region for the fifth stage of the Worldloppet.
This course is also used for the FIS marathon on Saturday and is part of the Classic Series on Sunday. On Saturday there will be skating races from 23 to 50 kilometers long. On Sunday, the classic race will be 50-kilometers long, but there will also be a 23-kilometer classic race.
The departure takes place in a little village called Ettal, which is only five kilometers from the finish line in Oberammergau village. Expect 1,200 skating racers on Saturday and over 5,000 classic racers on Sunday. Your hotel is ideally situated at only two minutes from the finish line right in the center of town and very close to the place where you have to go to pick up your race packet and bib. Your transportation will take you directly to the start line, either by bus or by private car.
